Ivan "Geeky" Mondaca

I am a self-taught artist based in Oslo. Art has always been a significant part of my life. Since I was a small child, I have been interested in drawing and painting. Although art was an important part of me, for various reasons, I stopped engaging with it for many years. In the past couple of years, I have resumed both painting and drawing. Digital drawing has been something I have focused on a lot. Through my Instagram account "@geeeeeeky," I have had the opportunity to work freelance for many international clients.

Digital drawing—creating a piece of art on a screen—is something really cool. But being able to feel every movement of the brush, the different textures created by the paint, and seeing a blank canvas turn into a work of art is simply priceless. ​

 

What inspires my work? ​

There are many art forms and styles that inspire my work. I've always been a fan of "Pop Culture" figures/characters. We're talking about incredibly famous people/artists/cartoon characters and other icons that have had a significant influence on our culture. I enjoy recreating these characters while also conveying a message to others through my paintings. The blend of characters and abstract graffiti is key for me. Art forms and styles that inspire my work: abstract, pop art, graffiti, realism, semi-realism, surrealism, urban/street art, cartooning, sculptures, and more.

My artworks goes in the category "Pop art" because of all de different color combinations I use and the current use of Pop culture icons as motifs.
